How to send notification by email to an external address?

MTA is short for Mail Transfer Agent. In other words, the system used to
send mail. This is not configured properly if you can not send mail
outside the box. It is impossible for me to tell you how to fix this
without knowing the exact setup of your system. You are probably using
sendmail, postfix, exim or qmail.
