Multiple external service check log entries

We are currently looking at a distributed deployment of Nagios for remote subnets. However, our experimental site is logging multiple, duplicate entries through NSCA such as:
[2003-11-06 03:59:23] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host1.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:57:23] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host2.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:55:23] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host3.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:54:22] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host1.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:52:22] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host2.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:50:23] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host3.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:49:23] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host1.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:47:22] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host2.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
[2003-11-06 03:45:22] EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;host3.ous.edu;ssh server;0;SSH OK - SSH
How do you prevent these multiple entries from appearing? I like the first, initial entry. However, the multiple entries make it difficult to sort through what is actually happening with the system. This problem does not seem to be affecting our local service checks.
We're running Nagios 1.1 on RH Linux 8 (both local and remote monitoring systems). We're using the Nagios 1.3.0 plugins and NSCA 2.4.
