Missing file...

I would like to implement checks for http, telnet, ftp, etc.  But
whenever I run one of those I get a message saying that it is missing
libssl.so.4.
 
I searched the archive and didn't find anything about this.  Could
anyone help?  I tried installing the latest openssl but that didn't seem
to help.
 
I am running the latest version of Nagios on a RedHat 8.0 box.
 
Is that file all I need in order to get these plugins to work?
