installing apan

The apan instructions would overwrite nagios plugins.
Apan comes with a utils.sh plugin that contains a ping function,
however there is already a file called utils.sh that comes
with nagios plugins.

I renamed the apan utils.sh but would like to know whether
this will work or whether I need to inform apan that
this has changes, if so, where should this be changed.
