notifications not working

First things first. My name's André Barros, i'm a Support Analyst for a 
Brazilian wholesale company. We have just put a FreeBSD 4.9 box with Nagios 
in production environment, and i'm responsible for it. We monitor a lot of 
services (win, linux, hp-ux, printers, routers, oracle tablespaces, mysql, 
etc)...

system: FreeBSD 4.9 Stable Release
version: Nagios 1.1

Everything was working fine, then i tried to config a new check_log service. 
The service was added without any problems, but exactly then, the 
notifications stopped. One thing important is that i added the nagios user 
to the wheel group. I thought that could be the reason for my problem, but 
no, since i reverted this change and anyway it still doesn\'t work.

PLEASE, i need help. This server is in a production environmet and i cannot 
afford to stay without notifications any longer...
