The problem lines in config.log appear to be:

This suggests that gcc has a problem with crt1.o. Presumably you compiled
nagios okay. Can you compile anything else?

I have installed nagios 1.1 and plugins-kit is 1.30
This is the full configure output

Gabriele,

Which release did you use? Can you post the full configure output and the
config.log.

My guess is that it is not finding gcc.

Hi!
I need to install nagios plugins. I downloaded the tar from internet, I
extracted it but I couldn't install.
Configure indicates an error

"Checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler
cannot create executables"

I have already installed gcc and any other C compilers. 
What can I do now?
Without plugins, nagios doesn't monitor my network resources.
