Host Status Information Output Results

On Nagios, at the Host detail tab, some of the hosts have the results of the check-host-alive command under the Status Information collumm which are the responses from the ping command. Others have this: "( Host assumed to be up )". What can I do to change this last output to the first one? All of the hosts have PING services associated with them.
