email notifications are not working

Friends,

Successfully installed Nagios on RH9 to monitor the server farm and wan
link. 
SCANEARIO
-The server farm has private IP address (192.168.1.X/24)
-MSexchange(5.5) as the only mail server (192.168.1.10)
-all internal email clients connect the 192.168.1.10 address

PROBLEM
-Nagios is not sending email notifications through the internal exchange
server.But notifications are successfully sent to the outside
world(whatever at yahoo.com)
- Already tried adding "192.168.1.10   mail.website.com" to the /etc/hosts
Nagios is able to resolve mail.website.com with its internal IP of
192.168.1.10 and not the 12.34.45.XX address 

This is the topology

 |-[otherservers]    


Any ideas ?
