nrpe_nt/ssh & perl script

Has any one come across an issue with running a perl script on a 
Windows 2003 box using either NRPE_NT or SSH?

I keep getting a "Bad file descriptor" in $! 

However, running the script while logged on, via rdesktop or ssh, causes 
no errors.
