problem with NSCA (resend)

I can't get send_nsca on the client to connect with the NSCA on the
server. I have it sunning in single mode on the server. The IP is
permitted but whenever I start send_nsca it times out after 30 seconds
(or whatever I choose to put in the cfg file)

Both systems are Fedora and RedHat.

the passwords a set right. If I change the permitted IP list and remove
the client I get a different error message (immediate disconnect) so I
know that's done properly.

I just don't understand. Am I missing a step here?
