statusmap logos problem

I have managed to get the logos I want (i.e., not question mark) when I
put my mouse over the question mark image in statusmap. But the main
statusmap page stays stubbornly question marked.
It must be possible, as the square-box.com demo shows different icons.
There is no information in apache's log files.
