Jochen,
Check your permissions on the files in /etc/nagios - make sure the user
'nagios' has permission to read those files.
Something to consider in the future is that if you are going to have a lot
of hosts/services etc, you may want to use the cfg_dir directive instead of
the cfg_file directive. e.g:
/etc/nagios/objects/hosts
/etc/nagios/objects/hostgroups
/etc/nagios/objects/services
etc
and in the nagios.cfg:
cfg_dir=/etc/nagios/objects/hosts
cfg_dir=/etc/nagios/objects/hostgroups
cfg_dir=/etc/nagios/objects/services
etc
