Nrpe plugin truncating output

Well well. If I'm on the client side, I launch the script, everything goes well. My output line is OK and the return status is as expected.
If I launch it using the nrpe plugin ($NAGIOSDIR/libexec/check_nrpe with appropriate arguments), it returns a truncated output.

It appears to do it if the script takes time to answer, but I'm not sure. Also, I would love to find an access to known nrpe plugin known bugs and version status information, as my problem could perhaps be corrected in a recent version of it.
