Scheduled and Downtime Comments

Based on my understanding of the documentation the comments for
scheduled down time are lost after some time.  Is it possible to change
this in the configs?  I couldn't find any where quickly.  I'd like to be
able to keep all the down time logs for tracking server down times.  Has
anyone done something similar?  TIA.
