Problem starting Nagios on solaris

Hi All, 

Im having great fun trying to start nagios on a sun solaris box. When i 
issue the nagios preflight check i get the error... 

nagios: Cannot findELF 

Thats exactly as printed. When i compiled i did not see any errors reported 
but i may have missed them. This has got to be my 100th install of nagios 
now and I tjought I'd seen al manner of error install messages but this one 
is new to me. 

Answers on an email please :)
