hi,
is something like this available for windows too? this one works fine on
linux, but we need to monitor some windows-driven harddidks too.

Yes. Grab the check_smart plugin (a new one, not in the plugins
tarball last time I looked). You'll also need a version of
smartmontools recent enough to support the -H option (oh, and you'll
need a kernel recent enough to support the use of smartctl).
