Duration of a state / laststatechange

[Michael Fischer v. Mollard]

Hi all,

I want to have notifications containing the duration of a failure state, as 
you get with BigBrother ("Service X recovered Problem has been resolved 
after Y seconds"). I tried to build such messages using $TIMET$ - 
$LASTSTATECHANGE$ in the email notification.
Unfortunately $TIMET$ - $LASTSTATECHANGE$ seems to be allway zero. Any 
other hints?
