checking remote unix disk, processes

hey guys, 

can someone recommend a nice check util that allows us to check disk or 
processes of a remote unix command without having to install an agent on the 
remote unix(nagios-statd)? 

It's because, we can use ssh to send command to the remote unix and have the 
output sent back to stdout.
