Plugin timeout

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before. But if I'm using a check_ping
and I'm doing 5 pings. I every now and then get a "Plugin timed out
after 10 seconds." Is there a way to extend this timeout period to
about 13 or 14 seconds? I just want to make sure it has time to do all
of the pings before it shows up as timed out.
