Service Check Timeout Error Message

I am trying to have Apan 0.2.1 gather statisitcs from an HP-UX 10.20 host with
nagios-statd 3.03 listening on port 5668. I keep on getting a Service Check
Timeout error message
and wanted to know what I needed to reconfigure to correct this problem. Thanks.
