nrpe - ssl handshake?

I'm getting a strange error.

When I run check_nrpe from the command line, it returns the expected 
values, but when I add it to my config files. it continues to give the 
ssl handshake error.

Am I missing something in the service configuration.  Does anyone have 
a good set of sample code for using NRPE?
