Nagios with MySql

Does nagios have ownership of the tables in the database or access
rights as detailed in
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/1_0/xdata-db.html#table_definitions?
If that's not the issue, you should probably post exactly how you've
configured nagios including the appropriate config snippets and the
steps that you took so we can figure out where you went wrong.
