Weeder monitor

I stumbled across Weeder Technologies digital I/O module as an
inexpensive way of monitoring dry contacts. Before I start scripting
up a monitor, I was wondering if anybody else has already done
something like this. The Weeder digital I/O module sports a RS-232
interface and can monitor 14 contacts. (Using it for dry contacts is
kinda simple for the module, but for $60 I haven't come across
anything even close to that price.)
