Multiple check intervals for services

I am trying to setup some service checks that have different check intervals during different times of day.  This mainly has to due with the response of service checks during backups.  We could stand to have the time frame between checks that are performed during that time for certain hosts extended.
 
I have read the docs and been running some tests to see if I can set this up, but I have not gotten a clear view if this is possible.
