Sybase databases: How to monitor them

Good Morning,
There's been some traffic on the list lately about monitoring Sybase
databases.
 
There is a plugin in contrib (and listed on NagiosExchange) that does
this.
 
It operates in two modes:
 * Connect only - Checks the connection to the database
 * Free space - Checks both the connection to the database and the free
space.
