check_snmp not obeying warning/critical limits

Follow-up to an earlier question:

The problem is, check_snmp also returns a warning state if (a) there's any
output on stderr or (b) there's any problem closing the child process. I
modified check_snmp not to do this as a stopgap measure, and it works fine
now.
