fork() error

I've been getting yeleld at left and right for false alarms which are 
caused by this error :

blablablab could not be performed due to a fork() error.

My log is filled with that. Am I running low on resources ?

Nagios 1.2/Gentoo/2.6

I restarted nagios and it seems fine for now but I'm afraid this wil 
happen again.
