sms_client Problem - Modem Locked?

Beth:

You might try using the command: lsof /dev/xxxx
xxx is your modem line.  The command should give you what it thinks is 
using your modem device.

All else fails, you recycle the machine, you might have a program running 
your not aware of and this might kill it off.
