NAN - Nagios Notification Daemon 0.02 - Anyone using it?

Has anyone used this addon?  Its called NAN - Nagios Notification Daemon and 
it looks like a nice addon to the Nagios paging system.  We are currently 
using Nans 0.6 which is working well, but not as flexiable as NAN.

I have followed all INSTALL documentation and am getting the following error 
when testing.

nan at nagioshost# /usr/local/nan/nand
Could not lock conf file: Bad file number
nan at nagioshost#


I have also used full paths with the same result?

Server specs

SunOS nagioshost 5.9 Generic_118558-04 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60


nan at nagioshost# /usr/local/bin/perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.5 built for sun4-solaris
