Perhaps I'm being a bit dense (hey, it's Friday), but I don't
understand why you would even want to do such a thing. It seems like
quite a hack for no gain. If you're just trying to make sure you
don't get notified during sendmail & BIND log rotations, Nagios has a
far better provision built right in with the max_check_attempts
parameter.
