You can do it in the Nagios.cfg file.
# NOTIFICATIONS OPTION
# This determines whether or not Nagios will sent out any host or
# service notifications when it is initially (re)started.
# Values: 1 = enable notifications, 0 = disable notifications
enable_notifications=1

Subject: [Nagios-users] Disable notifications
Hi,
Does anyone know if there a way within nagios to temporarily disable
notifications for all hosts?
i.e.
I have 100 hosts that went down temporarily due to a network outage. The
hosts came back up after 5 minutes. I know they are all back online, and
I really don't care about the recovery pages at this point. So I want to
ensure that I don't get those pages for a specified amount of time. How
would I go about doing this?
Thanks!
