nagios-grapher: display graph a bit smother

Hi List,
I have a problem with my nagios grapher i configured nagios that it
polls service LOAD on every server once per minute. My graph didn't
change so far. I still have these big bar every 10 minutes instead of
a smother graph painted or updated every minute. Is there a way to
configure nagiosgrapher that i paints smoother graphs? I adjusted the
$step variable in ngraph.ncfg but that changed nothing.
It doesn't have to be a curve, bars are ok but with smaller steps would
be the best.

Any hints how to do that?
