Down does not change to unreachable?

Hi All
I sent a variation on this note a couple of weeks back that no-one
commented on at the time.
I have confirmed the behaviour again this week so I thought I'd reword my
comments and put it
out again.
If a host goes down, *then* it's parent goes down, shouldn't the host's
status
change to unreachable? That isn't happening for me. I'm still getting host
down
messages from the original host.
If the parent goes down first it acts as I expect, and I only receive
notices about the parent.
If my expectations are wrong, are there any work arounds?
If my expectations are right, is this a known bug? or fixed in 2.5?
Comments appreciated,
Brian
