Acknowledge variable

I am in the process of migrating from Nagios 1.2 to 2.4. We use the
acknowledgement feature quite extensively and use it to track the
acknowledgement comment left in the comment field in our ticket system.
My problem is, in 2.4 the '$OUTPUT$' variable no longer returns the user
comment, but instead returns the state of the service/host in the
acknowledgement email.
Is there another variable for the comment, or an easy way to extract
this information without modifying the source?
Thanks.
