Host notifications sent but not wanted

I upgraded to nagios 2.0b4 and now whenever I get a service alert I also
receive a "host up" alert. Even if i disable host notifications I still get
a "host up" alert along with the service notification.

Anyone know how to turn off this "feature" :-). Thank you very much.
