Presuming you've installed from source, it's as simple as
./configure --whatever-parameters you need
make all
make install
Then restart nagios. You couldn't do this from 1.x -> 2.x because of the
config file changes. You should always check the UPGRADING file for
information but in this case nothing affecting an upgrade within 2.x
versions has changed.
