I think nagios 3 is scheduled to have this capability.
However if you are just using this parameter in commands
(notification, check commands etc) you can do some of what you want by
creating a script that takes two arguments: the hostname and the
parameter.
Then invoke the script in the command definition as `get_custom_fields
$HOSTNAME$ cd_object`. I put together a longer writeup on the
nagios-users list a few months back with the subject "per host custom
macros", but I can't find it right now.
