We use syslog-ng at Nagios central server to write directly to
nagios.cmd. Distributed Nagios servers use syslog-ng to send passive
results to central nagios. Just use the logger utility to log, and
filter relevant entries to be redirected to central nagios. On central
nagios, there must be one log entry to write lines matching
"PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT" to nagios.cmd pipe. Using NSCA and
Syslog-NG on the central server did not worked because syslog-ng locks
the command pipe for writing, thus nsca cannot write to the command
pipe. But syslog-ng could have a destination to some script that writes
to nagios.cmd pipe, if nsca keeps running at the central nagios server.
