A few additional details -would- come in handy, thank you...

This is like saying: "I got this new car and I sat in the driver's  
seat, but it won't go."

So, could you give us some stuff like:
* the start command you're using
* the error message it returns
* some details on your nagios config
* have you verified your nagios config (using "nagios -v" and so on)?
