how to configure notification in Nagios

 i am using debian linux and Nagios version 2.3.1, i want to eneble
notification field and i enabld it and define the admin_email in main
cofiguration fil "nagios.cfg". but i think some more settings shold be there
, how nagios will send mail automatically to a mail id . please help me what
is the procedure to configuring Nagios to send mail to a particular mail id.
