Nagios Alert integration with EMC Smarts

Hi,
 
Has any one integrated Nagios alerts with EMC Smarts.
 
Which approach should be taken to ensure that we can bring this integration out of the box.
 
To my mind I see two adapters.
 
SNMP Trap and Syslog adapter.
 
Which of these will be out of the box without much effort to the Nagios/Smarts guy.
