Notification Template?

It's been a while since I set Nagios up to notify anyone but myself. I
now have a need to notify different users based on hostgroups. Back in
the day, I think we could add a contact and/or contactgroup to a
hostgroup definition, but it looks like this is no longer an option.

What is the new easy 'template' way to say "Any device in XXX hostgroup
should send notifications to XXX user"?
Should I create several different generic host and service templates,
each one using a different contactgroup? If so, I would still have to
touch each one of my hosts/services to change the template that it uses.
I'd rather not have to do all that.

If this is in the docs or a FAQ, please feel free to point me in the
right direction.
