/proc and /sys filesystems holds all the info anyone in the entire world
has ever thought would be useful to know about the inner workings of the
kernel.
I have no idea what SystemTap does, but I'm guessing it just reads those
two filesystems and report the data back to the user in a dumbed-down but
easier to read manner.
