I haven't done this with IBM director, but but I'd look for a log file to scan for new alerts, or for an SNMP hook to alert Nagios when an error occurs. Other vendor specific monitoring tools provide these. The log file parser would probably be the most reliable and easiest to implement. The trick will be to match the alert from the log to the host in Nagios, since all alerts will come from the host that is the director as a proxy for what it is watching..
