Return code 255 and flapping services on Solaris9

Hi
The reason that i use check_by_ssh is :
- we would have to make a lot of FW setup to allow the nrpe port
- i could get problems with some of the owners of the delivered software on the platform (IP telephony/Centrex)
if i installed nrpe.
- it was easy to set up with ssh keys from the nagios machine - and security was ok
- i read in the documentation that running check_by_ssh would not have performance impact up to 100-200 hosts,
i have about 50 hosts now.
rgds,
Peter

Could I ask a potentially stupid question?
Why check_by_ssh instead of nrpe? Admittedly, nrpe wasn't the
*easiest* thing I've ever configured, but I did manage to get it
running reliably in about 2 hours.
