Notification configuration

Hello there! Can anyone please assist me to configure nagios in this way:
When one of my host is down I need nagios to send only ONE notification
stating that host is down. My current configuration makes nagios to send
custom notification for each service that is configured on this host. I use
gsm-modem and it's annoying. The same is about recovery notification. Is it
possible?

My system is:
Linux srv-nagios 2.6.18-6-686 
nagios-3.0b5
