nrpe 2.8.1 vulnerabilites

Hi,I've just inherited a 2.8.1 installation on each client server and 2.6 on the reporting sysystem. I can't access the nagios website area to tell whether these versions are vulnerable to rootcompromise? Can anyone advise please?  How easy is it to upgrade to 3.x ?BestDude
