MERLIN with FreeBSD?

Merlin is rough around the edges. The module and everything works just
fine so it will never endanger your Nagios daemons stability, but I
wouldn't recommend it for production use just yet unless you're able to
and interested in improving on the merlin codebase.

Right now our focus with Merlin is to make it 100% rock solid for the
single-host case, since that's what 95% of our customers use. When we
have that, we'll turn our heads skyward and look to building vast
Nagios clouds with all the fripperies everybody wants from their
favourite monitoring tool.

I'm able to accept patches to that end, but not to do much more until
at least the week after next.
