availability reports in Nagios2

You're apparently starting and stopping nagios.

Two log entries --
[timestamp] starting...
[timestamp] shutting down...

Be more specific. I'm not aware of any issues with them. You are installing an old version of nagios though. If you have no specific requirements, you should be installing nagios-3.

This corresponds to 'Bailing out (reason...)" in the logs.

This corresponds to 'shutting down...' in the logs.
