How to graph historical data

I had been using nagiosgraph for years and found it to be good  I had to
adjust the map file when I wrote custom checks which was a bit of a
pain, but it was manageable.

Then I gave pnp4nagios a shot.  I found that I liked 2 things about a
lot better than nagiosgraph

1) graphs were prettier and easier to customize.  The pages had nifty
capabilities like printing the graphs to PDF and adjusting what I saw
and even searching.

2) the graphs were automatic.  This meant I did not have to mess with
the map file and parsing individual checks.  It was automatic because it
read standard performance data metrics from checks if they had them.
Unfortunately, many of my custom checks didn't do that properly, so that
just gave me a reason to fix that.

So I'm a nagiosgraph to pnp4nagios convert.
